Who is Trickyboo?
Helen Weber, founder of Trickyboo grew up in Northern England, studied textile design in Brighton graduating in 1989.
She lived in France for several years while working as a Textile Designer, eventually establishing and running a successful design studio in Lyon with a partner.
Helen married in 1996 and moved to Zurich, Switzerland, selling her design studio in France. She concentrated on her family life for the next few years as her family expanded to include two beautiful children. Inspired by wanting to design colorful and visually exciting bedrooms for her children and not being able to find some of the accessories that she visualized, she started to design and create colorful name banners and blankets to accomplish her goal. Friends and family loved the banners and blankets and shortly afterward, she began creating them as gifts. More product creation soon followed, including baby bibs, aprons, room garlands, and bags - all of which could be personalized.
In response to increasing interest in her creations, she decided to establish her own business once again, hence the birth of Trickyboo. At first, products were sold at local markets. However, as demand grew, Helen’s husband René became involved and developed a website and online shop. Trickyboo gradually established a European client base and continued to grow. Due to the increasing sales Helen couldn’t produce everything herself anymore: Trickyboo started to outsource production in Europe while Helen continued to design all of the products. SinceTrickyboo stands for design and quality, Helen personally oversees all production departments to ensure they meet her high standards for quality.
With over 19 years experience selling to leading fashion companies in kidswear and womenswear through her New York and Italian agents, textile designer Malena Russell who originally comes from London and an alumni of Winchester School of Art has joined up with Helen Weber Of Trickyboo!
They have practically led parallel lives as they share the same birthday and both moved to Zurich so teaming up seemed inevitable and they’re thrilled to be working together.
Trickyboo’s continued success in Europe for personalized presents and unique iron-on letters convinced Trickyboo that the products will appeal to American customers too. The company recently expanded with a local USA representative who will be happy to respond to any questions that you may have. You may reach her at marjon@tricky-boo.com
